Japanese ime in the some distant future?

Just wondering how many openboard users would benefit from it. Implementing it would be a bit challenging considering you have completely different layout and input logic than qwerty(12 key toggle/flick). There's mozc keyboard, but google pretty much deprecated the app in favor of gboard, and now only update the mozc lib. And other than that only swift keyboard has japanese ime.

Doesn't FlorisBoard have a Japanese layout?

It's highly unlikely I willl implement it myself, considering I'll need to produce a working combiner. Currently I don't even have the time to try and understand the Korean combiner, which is taken from another OpenBoard fork, but has some known issues (#214).

It's been a long time since I've tried florisboard, but if I remember correctly, they had the same qwerty-like layout but with japanese kana instead. There's an issue in the original openboard repo about japanese ime and it seems someone was willing to try to work on that, but for now there's no new info. Hopefully someone in the feauture maybe will try to implement it as the project grows.
