Support more HVAC modes

At the moment I am using BT to heat my home using an airconditioning. It works great using an external sensor (much better than the native sensor of the airco). I was only wondering if it is easy to add "cool" (or maybe any HVAC mode) to the integration for when it is summer?

I just had a quick look at the code, and when I changed 3 lines, I could already add the COOL option (just by adding HVACMode.COOL in 3 places), so I guess it will not be too hard to add some extra HVAC modes?

Thank you! Maybe we need to check, if more changes are needed. Since we would need to reverse some stuff on the temperature calibration. Default mode should work already, i think?
Window open might also need to be adapted? Or would be fine on open window to turn off the aircon, right?
Outside sensor logic needs to be adapted, because at the moment, i think the HVAC mode goes to OFF, if the temperature is above the config value.

Yes, I think some more changes may be needed for it to work for all devices, but basic functionality works now for my airconditioning. Window open should be fine I guess, since I don't think you want the airco on when the window is open.

You are right about the sensor logic, I think now it defaults to off when the temperature is above 20, which is not good in summer.

This is aweseome, I helped contribute to the Daikin module (only a tiny bit) for HA a couple of years ago and I've wondered since then if it would be possible to make HA 'smarter'.

Certain family members in my house want the AC on as they go to bed (fair enough) but the AC doesn't need to run in cooling mode between say 1am and 6am

Additional Info:

• I have a Daikin Ducted AC system
• I have every room monitored with "Xiaomi Thermometers" plus one outside
• Afternoons and late evenings can be hot where I live but they do cool down as the night progresses

I'd be happy to test if anyone makes the changes!!!

Any update on this? I would like to have a heat only mode. I can't run my AC if the outside temperature is below 15 degC and would like to have it set to heat if it is at or below this value.

You can add your AC like your heating in the BT Setup flow.

But we need to finetune the functions for better results

Hi all,

I'm using a heat pump with floor heating elements per room. The heat pump also has cooling functionality. Therefore, the heating and cooling trv for a particular room is the same, depending on the setting of the heat pump (HVAC entity heating or cooling). I can configure the same trv for both heating and cooling (cooling only 1 entity :( ), but I doubt this works correctly. Also, there is no way to tell better thermostat which mode the HVAC system is in.

So to summarize:
HVAC: Global setting for heating/cooling
trv's: per room fine tuning, heating or cooling effective based on global hvac status.

I don't think my set up is some weird edge case. If you're interested I'm willing to elaborate a bit more on how I think this should be supported.

I control both heating and cooling with same thermostat and adding the same z-wave thermostat to BT as heating and cooling Entity results in errors with better thermostat failing to start up resulting in "Unavailable" message

I have a heat pump and use it to heat 4 floors, each with a heating circuit distributor with 6-8 heating circuits.
So I have installed 4 FHCs (https://github.com/nliaudat/esp32_8ch_motor_shield) with a total of 29 actuators. Basically, most things work. So far I have used the tanh option and control the valves with the esp32 (https://github.com/nliaudat/floor-heating-controller). But now I want to have the actuators controlled directly by Home Assistant. In addition to heating, my heat pump can also cool passively. I can't find an integration that is suitable for this? better thermostat is not usable for an cooling option?
