Our CD-ROM CTA has proven to be quite the hit with the internet.

Let's double down on this. I'd like to create a few more so we can have a variety across different pages rather than just using the same one.

Some ideas

Britannica/Encarta encyclopedia

Can scatter each product across the box like in this example

image

image

Netflix OG DVD-by-mail packaging

image

AOL installation CD

Could lay out a smattering of CD-ROM designs like AOL famously did (they had at least dozens of designs!)

image

Something Microsoft packaging-related

Microsoft Office could be a good contender since it's multi-product

LIFE / Monopoly board

We already have a Monopoly board (for the PMF book?) and I vaguely remember maybe also having a game of LIFE board as well? Could be fun to have the corner of the Monopoly board with spaces like:

  • Free parking – use all our stuff for free OR passing GO – monthly free tier resets
  • Could use some help on the creative for spaces like Chance, the most expensive spot on the board (some enterprise-level feature?), etc.

Hardware-inspired packaging

Anyone who ever built a computer like me will get all the feels with something inspired by this. (Maybe @slshults can think of some good ones given his extensive background here!)

cc @charlescook-ph for copy ideas, doing our own spin on the existing text in the examples above (depending on which ones we think make sense to copy)

An Encarta one would be sick - 'dive into a world of product engineering', 'the complete encyclopaedia of product engineering' etc. (I have severe Encarta nostalgia).

AOL one is great, could do like 'infinite hours free because we have a free tier, duh' or 'internet speed throttled to 56.6k once you exceed your allowance'.

The other route I thought of doesn't really work with CD boxes, but Geocities?

Not my area but I love the idea. I told Cory in person that the retro CTA at the bottom of the landing convinced me to apply to PostHog (nostalgia ftw).

I think the one with Office would work great if you reuse the puzzle-aesthetic with multiproducts!
