I thought that this was a server issue but it does not replicate in chrome. Additionally, If the app doesn't load up to that channel then I can't get to it at all.
Do you have any of the Boards/Playbooks tabs open? If so, can you close them and try again?
If not, this might be some strange session issue, as I'm seeing that it's trying to navigate you away from the app and closing the websocket:
If that's the case, you might have to blow out your Desktop App config folder to reset the app. You can find it in %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Mattermost
