The package manager pixi (https://github.com/prefix-dev/pixi) is being used (not only) for python projects and stores its environment in .pixi.

I think appending pixi's support is good idea.
But this pull requests' pixi support is not enough and not following previous examples and lacks uniformity.
I have recreated the pull request in #578.
